## 📖 What Is The Climb?

**The Climb** is an interactive, audience-driven prize game that turns ordinary tips into a high-stakes, edge-of-your-seat moment on stream. Instead of a flat "tip X → get Y" exchange, every buy-in launches a **climb**: a tense, step-by-step ascent up a ladder of prizes where the reward gets bigger — but the odds of reaching it get worse.

Here's the hook: at every step the climber (and the whole room) faces a live decision — **bank** the prize they've earned so far, or **push** for a bigger one and risk losing it all to a bust. It's the same "deal or no deal" tension that keeps chat glued to the screen, except the audience gets to vote on the decision in real time.

**The promise that makes it fair:** a bust is *never* a total loss. Every climber who busts still walks away with a guaranteed **consolation prize**, so nobody ever tips in and gets nothing. That safety net is what makes the risk feel exciting instead of punishing — and what keeps tippers coming back for another attempt.

## 🎯 The Core Loop (in plain English)

1. **Buy in.** A viewer tips one of four tier amounts to start a climb. The bigger the tier, the higher up the ladder they begin — and the higher the ceiling they can reach.
2. **Climb.** The game runs a weighted random draw for the climber's current rung. Most rungs are survivable early on; the odds drop as you go higher.
3. **Survive → Decide.** If the climber survives the draw, a short **decision window** opens. The whole room votes: type `!bank` to lock in the current prize, or `!push` to risk it for the next rung up.
4. **Bust → Console.** If a draw fails, the climber busts — they get the consolation prize, the climb ends, and a short cooldown begins.
5. **Bank → Reward.** If the room banks, the climber wins the prize at their current rung. Real prizes go into a redemption queue; shoutouts resolve instantly.
6. **Cooldown.** A brief pause (default 90 seconds) before the next climb can start — so each climb feels like an *event*, not a spam loop.

---

## 🏔️ The Ladder (Rung Table)

The ladder has **10 rungs**. Each rung has a **survival odds** (the chance the draw succeeds) and a **prize** (what you bank if you stop there). The higher you go, the rarer the survival and the bigger the prize.

| Rung | Survival | Prize (example — customize yours) |
|:---:|:---:|---|
| 1 | 90% | On-screen shoutout / compliment |
| 2 | 85% | Small tip-menu item |
| 3 | 80% | Small tip-menu item (upgraded) |
| 4 | 75% | Mid tip-menu item |
| 5 | 70% | Short custom clip |
| 6 | 65% | Toy control minutes |
| 7 | 58% | Larger menu item |
| 8 | 50% | Premium menu item |
| 9 | 40% | Big-ticket item |
| 10 | 30% | Grand prize (custom request / show credit) |

**Bust consolation (any rung):** Shoutout + climb credit toward the next attempt.

> The odds are **public and visible** — publish this table in your room rules. Visible odds build trust, and trust builds repeat play.

## 💎 The Four Tiers (Buy-In Levels)

A climb's **tier** is decided by the tip amount. Higher tiers start higher on the ladder and can reach the top prizes — but they cost more tokens.

| Tier | Cost (default) | Starts at | Ceiling (max rung) | Vibe |
|---|:---:|:---:|:---:|---|
| **Spark** 🔥 | 50 tk | Rung 1 | Rung 4 | The friendly warm-up — cheap, forgiving, capped at mid prizes. |
| **Ember** 🟠 | 150 tk | Rung 2 | Rung 6 | Skips the easy rungs, reaches toy-control territory. |
| **Blaze** 🔴 | 400 tk | Rung 4 | Rung 8 | Starts at the mid-prizes, can push into premium items. |
| **Inferno** 🌋 | 1000 tk | Rung 6 | Rung 10 | The whale tier — starts deep, can chase the grand prize. |

**Why tiers exist:** they let every budget play (Spark for regulars) while giving high-rollers a fast track to the big prizes (Inferno). The **ceiling** caps how far a tier can climb, so a cheap buy-in can't accidentally win the grand prize — you have to pay to reach the top.

---

## 🗳️ The Decision Window — Audience Participation

This is the heart of the game. After a climber survives a rung, a **decision window** opens (default 12 seconds). During this window:

- **Anyone in chat** can vote by typing `!bank` or `!push`.
- The votes are tallied live and shown on the overlay/info panel.
- When the timer ends, the **majority wins**. A **tie banks** — the safer choice always wins ties, so the room can't accidentally force a reckless push.

This turns every climb into a shared moment: the climber's tokens are on the line, but the *whole room* decides whether to play it safe or go for glory. Cheer, argue, beg the chat to push — that's the show.

## 🎮 For Viewers — How to Play

### Starting a climb
Tip one of the four tier amounts (shown in the broadcaster's tip menu). The moment you tip, your climb begins at that tier's starting rung. Your tip is your buy-in — there's nothing else to buy.

### During your climb
You don't control the draw — it's automatic and weighted by the rung's odds. What you (and everyone else) control is the **decision** after each survived rung:

- Type **`!push`** in chat to vote to climb higher (bigger prize, worse odds).
- Type **`!bank`** in chat to vote to lock in the current prize and end the climb safely.

The room decides together. When the window closes, the majority rules.

### Outcomes
- **Banked** → you win the prize at your current rung. Real items go into the redemption queue (the broadcaster fulfills them); shoutouts happen right away.
- **Busted** → you get the **consolation prize** (a shoutout + climb credit). You never walk away empty-handed.

### Viewer commands (free, anyone can use)
| Command | What it does |
|---|---|
| `!push` | Vote to push during a decision window |
| `!bank` | Vote to bank during a decision window |
| `!climb` | See the current climber, rung, pot, and state |
| `!climbrules` | Post the tier costs and a quick rules summary |
| `!climbleader` | See tonight's top climbers |
| `!climbqueue` | See the pending prize redemption queue |

### Tips for viewers
- **Watch the odds.** Rung 1 is 90% safe; rung 10 is only 30%. The higher the rung, the more a bank makes sense.
- **Pool your tips.** Tips *during* an active climb add to the pot instead of starting a new one — chip in to grow a climber's run.
- **Vote with the room.** A tie banks, so pushing needs a clear majority. If chat is split, banking is the smart play.
- **Cooldowns are normal.** After a climb ends there's a short pause before the next one — that's by design, to keep each climb special.

## 🎙️ For Broadcasters — How to Run It

### One-time setup
1. **Install the app** — paste `the_climb_app.js` into Chaturbate's Apps & Bots editor and start it.
2. **Set the tier costs** in the app settings to match four items in your tip menu (default 50 / 150 / 400 / 1000 tokens).
3. **Add those four items to your Chaturbate tip menu** so viewers can buy in with one click.
4. **Publish the rung table** in your room rules / bio so viewers know the odds and prizes.
5. **Pick your overlay** — either the in-room info panel (auto-synced, no setup) or the standalone OBS browser-source overlay (bigger and styled, but driven manually). Use one, not both.

### Running a stream
- **You don't press buttons for normal play.** Once installed, the game runs itself: tips start climbs, draws happen automatically, the decision window opens and closes on a timer, and prizes resolve.
- **Your job is the show.** Narrate the climbs, hype the decision windows, react to busts and banks. The game gives you the moments; you give them the energy.
- **Pace it.** The cooldown (default 90s) is your friend — it keeps climbs feeling like events. Don't lower it too much or the tension drains.
- **Fulfill prizes.** When a climber banks a real item (rung 2+), it appears in the redemption queue. Use `!climbqueue` to list pending items and `!climbfilled ` to mark one done.

### Broadcaster / mod commands
| Command | What it does |
|---|---|
| `!climbresolve` | Force-bank the current climb immediately (tech issue, time pressure) |
| `!climbreset` | Cancel and clear the current climb + cooldown |
| `!climbpause` / `!climbresume` | Freeze / resume the state machine (timers pause too) |
| `!climbfilled ` | Mark redemption #id as fulfilled |

*(The broadcaster and moderators are admins automatically. Add extra admins in the app settings, comma-separated and lowercase.)*

### Settings you can tune
| Setting | Default | What it controls |
|---|:---:|---|
| Tier costs (Spark/Ember/Blaze/Inferno) | 50/150/400/1000 | Token price of each buy-in |
| Decision window | 12 sec | How long the room has to vote |
| Cooldown | 90 sec | Pause between climbs |
| Admin users | (blank) | Extra usernames with admin commands |
| Auto-post rules | Yes | Sends a rules notice to first-time tippers |
| Show info panel | Yes | The in-room overlay (set No if using OBS only) |

## 🧠 Strategy & Fairness Notes

- **The house doesn't skew the odds.** Survival chances are fixed per rung and public. What you see is what you get.
- **Busts are soft.** The consolation prize means a bust costs the climber their buy-in's *extra* potential, but never leaves them with nothing. This keeps the game fun and repeatable.
- **Tiers cap the ceiling.** A Spark climb physically cannot reach rung 10 — its ceiling is rung 4. To chase the grand prize, a viewer must buy Inferno. This protects you from accidentally giving away a grand prize on a cheap buy-in.
- **Pooling is encouraged.** Tips during an active climb add to the pot rather than starting a new climb, so the room can collectively build one big run.
- **Ties bank.** The safer outcome always wins a tied vote, so a small aggressive minority can't force the climber into a bad push.

## ❓ Quick FAQ

**Do I have to tip to participate?**
To *start* a climb, yes. To *vote* in a decision window, no — anyone in chat can type `!push` or `!bank` for free.

**What happens if the decision timer runs out with no votes?**
It's treated as a tie, which **banks** the current prize. No vote = safe outcome.

**Can two climbs happen at once?**
No — one climb at a time per room. The cooldown after each climb keeps things paced.

**If I bust, did I lose my tokens?**
Your buy-in tokens are spent (that's the cost of playing). But you always get the consolation prize, so you never get literally nothing — and the climb credit can help your next attempt.

**How are prizes fulfilled?**
Shoutouts and the bust consolation happen instantly in chat. Real items (clips, menu items, custom requests) go into a redemption queue that the broadcaster works through — check `!climbqueue` for the list.

**Is it rigged / can the broadcaster cheat?**
No. The draws use weighted random chance with fixed, public odds. The broadcaster can *force-bank* a climb (to rescue a climber or handle tech issues) but cannot force a *bust* or change the odds mid-climb.

## 🎬 The 30-Second Pitch (for your room bio)

> **🔥 THE CLIMB — tip a tier, survive the ladder, bank or push.** Tip Spark (50t), Ember (150t), Blaze (400t), or Inferno (1000t) to start a climb. Survive each rung's draw, then the room votes `!bank` to lock the prize or `!push` to risk it for a bigger one. Bust = guaranteed consolation, never zero. Higher rungs = bigger prizes, worse odds. Type `!climbrules` for the full table. Climb smart. 🔥
